What to feed, & what not to feed worms

You can give your worms anything that will rot, with the exceptions of citrus, raw onions, or anything salty.  Citrus peel and raw onions are caustic to the worms’ sensitive skin, but they won’t do lasting damage; the worms will just avoid it till it decomposes fully.

If  you have spoiled milk & other putrified liquid (other than highly acidic or salty liquid) save it for your next feeding.  It’s a great way to add moisture and nutrients to the bin.

Most worm composting instructions advise not adding dairy to your bin.  I’ve never had a problem adding any kind of dairy.  I once filled an entire zone with outdated yogurt.  The worms devoured it.  I’m guessing that it appears on many “do not feed” lists because it’ll make your bin more attractive to rodents.  But rodents are attracted all kitchen scraps, so you either need a cat with healthy predator instincts, or devise a barrier (see the article on Keeping out Rodents).

We don’t eat meat so I don’t have much experience with that, except that over the years I’ve put a couple of dead birds in my bin & they also completely disappeared - bones and all.  I would suggest you experiment with small quantities, make notes, & see what happens.
